English versionVersion française

English version

We ask to Europe and to the Italian Government to guarantee a humanitarian corridor that can permit entrance to the European Union to those belonging to the category of vulnerable subjects: above all, to the women and children who have a family member already living on the national territory and to those who have worked with European
Member States in Afghanistan, including NGOs, because these are the main targets of Taliban’s revenge.

The latest news report of isolated attempts – on the part of Italian politicians – to help the families of refugees who live in Italy.

What is currently happening strongly undermines all the rights in the name of which, for years, we participated to the military occupation of Afghanistan’s territories.

The biggest fears concern the condition of women, taking into consideration – if the news is based on true facts – what is already happening in these days: lists of single women targeted for exemplary punishment or assigned as trophies of war to Taliban combatants, prohibitions against women working and studying, and the declared intentions of the Taliban to impose marriage on young girls aged twelve with unmarried Taliban.

Such attempts – no matter how noble they are – are unsatisfying because they are isolated actions.

The attempts must be shared by the entire European Union, all together, to offer protection to the vulnerable people and to those who already have a connection with the territory of the European Union, at least to the people connected for working of family reasons.
